Welcome to the new IPI
One thing you will immediately notice with the change is the reference section that used to be on the right side that had individual links for everything is now listed in the tabs along the top of the page. Now by gliding the mouse over the tabs you can find everything much easier with all the drop down menus. Also the recent Twitter posts listing has been moved to the right of the page instead of at the top of every article, so this should make things much cleaner.
Not much changed in the way of the format as the site layout is still pretty much the same, and is something I am comfortable with. We did change the slider to a smaller, condensed version which I think is better. Also, now when something noteworthy occurs with breaking news there will be a scroller along the top displaying the news, though the scroller is still a work in progress.
Another change is the new site header which goes the entire width of the page now and is much nicer with the affiliate logos separate from the IPI logo and with some black and white player photos in the background. Thanks to Lianna Holub for the excellent, hard work on that.
The only other big change was the addition of the tabs to the bottom right where site video, archives, and labels are in one group and then site friends, affiliate newspapers, and baseball sites are in another group. Again, this helps organize things better and makes the site a little neater without having to display and show so much and thus clogging up the page.
This update is the foundation to more things that are coming. We are working on some things which may take some time such as developing some sort of affiliate scoreboard that updates each day and also a standings and statistics page (though this is proving to be difficult). We are also working on other things to showcase the authors more on each piece and link to their previous work....and lots more! So be on the lookout for new updates and additions to the site.
Lastly, with this update in place, two things hopefully coming soon is a mobile version of the site and also by popular demand an app for your smart phone (iPhone, Droid, etc). So be on the lookout for those soon.
