BOWLING GREEN - The Lake County Captains rallied in the eighth inning to win the final game of the series against the Bowling Green Hot Rods 4-3 on Tuesday afternoon.

It was a left-handed starter matchup with Elvis Araujo starting the game for the Captains against Felipe Rivero for the Hot Rods.

Bowling Green opened the game with a run in the first inning. Shortstop Jake Hager singled to lead off the inning. He advanced to second on a balk and then second baseman Juniel Querecuto doubled to right field to score Hager.

First baseman Jerrud Sabourin led off the third inning with a walk. Third baseman Leonardo Castillo lined a double to center field, scoring Sabourin, and the game was tied 1-1 after three innings.

Araujo pitched four innings, allowing one run on four hits. He walked two and struck out five.

Reliever Mason Radeke (2-1, 3.38) replaced Araujo in the fifth. Hager singled and moved to second on a single by rightfielder Drew Vettleson. Designated hitter Jeff Malm loaded the bases with a walk. Left fielder Todd Glaesmann scored Hager on a sacrifice fly to center field., and after five innings the Hot Rods led 2-1.

Bowling Green made it a 3-1 game in the seventh inning. Vettleson doubled down the left field line with two outs. Malm drove in Vettleson with his third triple of the year.

Lake County took the lead in the eighth inning. Rightfielder Jordan Smith doubled to left field. Second baseman Robel Garcia moved Smith to third with a double of his own. Catcher Alex Lavisky was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Sabourin scored Smith and Garcia with the third double of the inning, and then Indians Minor League Player of the Week Francisco Lindor singled in Lavisky to complete the scoring.

Radeke got the win pitching three innings, allowing two runs on four hits. He gave up one walk and struck out two. Rob Nixon picked up his first save with two scoreless innings with two hits.

Jason McEachern (1-1, 2.18) took the loss, allowing three runs on three hits. He struck out three. Rivero pitched five innings with one run on four hits. He walked three and struck out five.

Lindor, Smith and Garcia led the Captains with two hits apiece.

The Captains will return home to Classic Park on Wednesday Night. The Dayton Dragons are in town for a three game series. On Wednesday, the Captains will send RHP Joe Colon (2-3, 3.90) to the mound against RHP Daniel Tuttle (1-1, 2.55). First Pitch is scheduled for 6:30 PM.
