Around the Farm takes a quick look at some of yesterday's performances by Indians prospects throughout the system. The positions listed below are where the player was playing in yesterday's game.
N. Bartolone

Nick Bartolone-2B, Lake County: 4-for-5, 3 R, 3 RBI, BB, K, 2 SB

Rango! The affectionately loved little guy for the Captains has had a rough year. He's hitting just .228 and has committed too many errors to even count. But he had a career day on Sunday, knocking in three runs, scoring three more, and swiping a pair of bags. He was on base all but one time in six plate appearances and certainly had the best game of his young professional career.

Adam Abraham-3B, Kinston: 1-for-1, 3 R, 2B, 4 BB

What a game for Adam Abraham. The only hit he had was a double, but he reached base five total times with four walks. He came around to score three times. He now sports a .353 on-base percentage.

  • Ezequiel Carrera-CF, Columbus: 2-for-4, 2 SB: Carrera swiped two bags yesterday to give him an International League best 25 steals.
  • Chad Huffman-RF, Columbus: 1-for-3, R, HR, RBI, BB: Only two runs yesterday for the Clippers, both solo shots. The first came from Chad Huffman, his 10th on the season.
  • Luke Carlin-C, Columbus: 1-for-4, R, HR, RBI, K: The other from Luke Carlin, who notched his fifth. It's his second in as many games after sitting out the past few.
  • David Huff-SP, Columbus: W (6-2), 7 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K: David Huff has walked just two hitters in his past 21 innings pitched. He's 3-0 in his last three starts, having gone seven innings in each. Perhaps he's found his groove? This may be his best stretch of pitching of his professional career.
  • Josh Judy-RP, Columbus: SV (10), 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K: Speaking of grooves, Judy may have found his. Aside from one outing on the 4th against Louisville, Judy hasn't surrendered a run in his past 10 games. Including a perfect ninth for his 10th save yesterday. He now has 34 strikeouts in 27 innings.
  • Tim Fedroff-RF, Akron: 2-for-3, R, 2B, K: Hit streak- eight games. Enough said.
  • Nick Weglarz-LF, Akron: 0-for-2, 2 BB, K: Pitchers continue to avoid Nick Weglarz at all costs. In 10 games he has 11 walks. Despite his .188 average he's carrying a .395 on-base percentage. Five of his six hits are for extra-bases.
  • Kelvin De La Cruz-SP, Akron: L (4-5), 6.2 IP, 8 H, 5 R, BB, 4 K: Life is rough for Kelvin De La Cruz, who just can't seem to put it together. He's not having a bad season, but for someone who's supposed to be a top prospect, he's leaving much to be desired. The good news in this one is that he walked just one hitter and almost went seven innings. But he gave up quite a few hits.
  • Delvi Cid-CF, Kinston: 1-for-3, 2 R, BB, K, SB: After starting the year on the disabled list, Delvi Cid has returned to some struggles. One thing that doesn't go away though is speed and he is 10-for-13 in stolen base attempts.
  • Anthony Gallas-LF, Kinston: 1-for-3, R, RBI, BB, K: Gallas continues to knock in a run for every game played in Kinston thus far.
  • Tyler Cannon-2B, Kinston: 1-for-3, R, HR, 4 RBI, BB: Tyler Cannon only hit a two-run home run, but he knocked in two more by other means, with his most important coming in the top of the ninth, a sac-fly to give the Indians the lead.
  • J.T. Toole-1B, Kinston: 2-for-3, BB, SB: Now 12-for-14 on the year in steals, Toole also had a pair of hits. Toole is hitting a respectable .282 on the season in 59 games. He loves the lefties, having hit .317 against them.
  • Clayton Cook-SP, Kinston: 4 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 0 BB, 2 K: Clay Cook had gone eight straight starts going at least five innings. He had six quality starts through that stretch. This game snapped his consecutive nine-strikeout game mark at two.
  • Steven Wright-RP, Kinston: W (1-0), 5 IP, 6 H, 3 R, BB, 2 K: The Knuckleball Comeback Tour hits Kinston and in relief, Wright picks up his first Kinston win, and third different win for an affiliate. Wright went five relief innings, giving up the same amount of runs as starter Clay Cook, but at the right place, in the right time.
  • LeVon Washington-CF, Lake County: 1-for-6, R, 2 RBI, 4 K: Other than a three-hit game against Great Lakes earlier this week, LeVon Washington has been scuffling. And although he knocked in two runs in this one (his fourth and fifth RBIs in the past 10 games), he struck out four times.
  • Alex Monsalve-DH, Lake County: 3-for-7, 2 R, 2B, RBI: Monsalve has now hit in four straight.
  • Giovanny Urshela-3B, Lake County: 1-for-5, R, 3 RBI, BB: Urshela has been in a RBI drought until this one. He's actually been in a bit of a hit-drought all-together. Urshela is hitting just .215 on the season and hadn't knocked in a run in 10+ games.
  • Jordan Casas-LF, Lake County: 5-for-7, 2 R, K: Amazingly he only scored twice and didn't knock in any runs, but Jordan Casas had a career day with five hits. Unfortunately, he'll be a little overshadowed with Bartolone's day.
  • J.D. Reichenbach-SP, Lake County: 5.1 IP, 4 H, 4 R (3 ER), 0 BB, 4 K: Making his first start for Lake County, Reichebach in for spot-duty and he gave the Captains some innings. He did his job like he's done so much this season.
  • Clayton Ehlert-RP, Lake County: 3 IP, H, 0 R, BB, 0 K: The Closer being called upon to go three innings. And while most might not be used to pitching in non-save situations, the pressure was on in extra-innings for Ehlert, who let up just a hit and a walk in his three scoreless.
  • Nick Sarianides-RP, Lake County: W (4-3), 2 IP, H, 0 R, BB, 0 K: More shutdown bullpen efforts, this time from Nick Sarianides, who picks up his fourth win. He now has a 3.16 ERA on the season. He's given up a run in every other game for the past eight games.
  • Jake Lowery-C, Mahoning Valley: 3-for-4, 2 2B, 4 RBI, K: Not hard to have a career day when your pro-career is only three days old, but it may be awhile before Jake Lowery has another game like this one. Lowery knocked in four of the Scrappers five runs on his first two doubles of the season.
  • Aaron Siliga-LF, Mahoning Valley: 2-for-4, R: Siligia continues to hit in the early going, notching a pair and scoring a run in this one.
  • Alex Lavisky-DH, Mahoning Valley: 0-for-4, 3 K: And Alex Lavisky continues to scuffle. After two hits on Opening Day, Lavisky has fallen back into what got him to Mahoning Valley in the first place. He's struck out five times in his last seven at-bats.
  • Kirk Wetmore-SP, Mahoning Valley: W (1-0), 5 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, K: 2009's 11th round pick made his 2011 debut after starting 10 games for Mahoning Valley last year. He's already half-way to his 2010 win total after picking up the victory with five scoreless innings.
  • Drew Rucinski-RP, Mahoning Valley: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K: A brilliant debut in relief for the undrafted free agent out of Ohio State. Rucinski didn't allow a base-runner and struck out four hitters.
