In the 27th round, the Cleveland Indians select: RHP Tyler Sturdevant - New Mexico State University, 6'1" 170 lbs.

UPDATE (6:46 PM EST): Jeff Ellis
Well before I even get in to this pick I feel I must comment on how bad the draft tracker for MLB has been. According to the draft tracker, Oklahoma is a college in Texas and New Mexico St. is in Colorado. Okay, back to the pick. Tyler Sturdevant is a right handed pitcher out of New Mexico St. He is ranked the 20th best prospect in New Mexico by Baseball America. He worked both in the pen and as a starter at New Mexico St. His best skill was his ability to keep the ball in the park giving up only one home run for every 43 batters he faced. After his junior year he was named second team ALL-WAC. Just based on the Indians draft, I would bet the plan for Tyler would be a move to the pen.
